I’m Greg, owner of Long Range Specs — a licensed, fully insured, InterNACHI-certified home inspector serving Columbus, GA and the surrounding area.
After serving 21½ years in the United States Army as an Army Ranger, I knew retirement would be the beginning of a new chapter. As a retired and disabled veteran, I wanted a career that would let me stay active, keep serving others, and — most importantly — work for myself.
Construction has always been part of my life. Growing up, I learned home construction, roofing, electrical work, masonry, and general building practices from my father and grandfather — not just the trades themselves, but the value of hard work, attention to detail, and taking pride in what you do. “Be a jack of all trades, master of none” was something I heard throughout my life, and it played a major role in my decision to become a home inspector. It let me combine everything I’d learned growing up with the discipline and problem-solving I gained in the military.
What I enjoy most is helping people. Buying a home or investing in property is one of the largest financial decisions a person will ever make, and my job is to give my clients an honest, thorough, unbiased assessment — so they know exactly what they’re buying or selling.
As my business grew, I expanded to offer more: residential and commercial property inspections, new construction and 11-month warranty inspections, pool inspections, thermal imaging, and mold, lead, and asbestos testing with lab analysis. The goal was a one-stop inspection company that could handle as much of a client’s property needs as possible. (See the full Services page for details on each.)
I truly love what I do. Every property is different, every inspection brings new challenges, and every client is another chance to make a difference. My mission is simple: inspect thoroughly, report honestly, educate my clients, and help them make informed decisions that can save them thousands of dollars in unexpected repairs down the road.
For me, being a home inspector isn’t just another job after the military. It’s another way to serve.
